Beaches
SUNBATHING
Remember
that the sun in Greece is very strong. A healthy colour makes us all
feel better, but soaking up the rays for too long can be both dangerous
and painful. Build up your tan gradually by minimising your exposure
during the first few days of your holiday. Always cover yourself with a
high factor sunscreen, offering good protection. Never stay in the sun
until your skin goes red, the damage has already been done. Take
particular care with children who should always wear sunscreen of no
less then factor 15. Very young children should wear a hat and be kept
in the shade as much as is possible.
Balos
Known
for its sand-baths and water to aid the digestion, which wells up right
by the sea. Balos is only 3kms from the village of Koumeika.
Mikro-Megalo Seitani
Two of
the most isolated and beautiful bays in the whole of the Aegean and some
of the finest coastline on the island. Both beaches are accessible by
path and are a sanctuary for the seal Monachus-Monachus.
Tsambou
Very picturesque and quiet beach situated near of Avlakia.
Psili Amos
Is
a
sandy beach with very shallow waters, ideal for families with small
children.
Mykali
Is
a very clean and quiet long pebbled beach, ideal for those seeking a
little solitude.
Potokaki
Is
a large pebbled beach outside of Pythagorion, very near to the airport;
many tourists gather here and there are plenty of restaurants and
tavernas. There are also lots of water sports facilities.
Votsalakia
55 kms from Samos Town, a very wide and one of the most beautiful
sandy/pebbled beaches, with very clear waters. There are several
restaurants and cafeterias.
Chrissi Amos
Directly passed Votsolakia and maybe one of the best beaches on the
island.
Limnionas
A
charming beach, a little further on from Chrissi Amos.
Potami
4 kms
west of Karlovassi, Potami is an open beach covered with pebbles. It has
a restaurant and cafeteria.
Kokkari
A
well-known shingle beach within the village limits - ideal for
windsurfing.
Lemonakia
One of
the most dazzling, small lush coves on Samos with a marvellous
sandy/pebbled beach. The sea bottom is strewn with pebbles but otherwise
the waters are delectable.
Tsamadou
One kilometre on from Kokkari and just before Lemonakia, Tsamadou is a
pebbled beach and is more or less identical to that of Lemonakia.
Mourtia
The road just before the Monastery of Zodochos Pigi to the right leads
to the gorgeous, lush Bay of Mourtia.
